Beckers Collection (Aachen) - Ushabti UB-016: Stick Shabti with Hieratic Inscription (Second Intermediate Period - early 18th Dynasty)

Wooden stick shabti UB-016 — Object documentation, Beckers Collection (Aachen) Mummiform stick shabti of wood, a characteristic early ushabti form, roughly carved from an elongated piece of wood: wedge-shaped face beneath the fringe of a single-lappet wig, eyes, nose and mouth originally drawn in black, and a short kilt modelled in relief — according to Whelan rare among stick shabtis, possibly unique. The front carried a six-line hieratic inscription, a short version of the shabti spell, of which only black sign traces survive today; Whelan (2007, p. 132) published a facsimile of the text while it was still legible. Second Intermediate Period to early 18th Dynasty, c. 1650–1450 BCE.
