Design for Coexistence: A Framework for Harmonious Living
Design for co-existence can enhance the quality of life to a great extent. It can make survival of different species in a better coordinated manner. Light and airy spaces can be developed for a better air quality index as it becoming a major challenge in the present-day environment. People are willing to bring about the change but combined efforts from across all the communities is required. Design for Coexistence in today’s world must be in interconnected for coexistence among various people, cultures, species, and environments. A thoughtful design should encourage and promote sustainable relationships within shared spaces. Deaf Space is an architectural approach developed which emphasizes sensory and social inclusivity in design. Making nature positive spaces architecture should prioritize biodiversity by including natural habitat into urban spaces to improve air quality. Purpose: This study is an attempt to closely study the need, impact and reasons for designing spaces for mutual co-existence between humans and the other species available. Methodology /Approach: To test the research framework and the effects of design for co-existence research was conducted via an online questionnaire which was to be graded on the scale of 1 to 5. To ensure proper selection of candidates the online questionnaire was circulated between people from various fields including architects, urban planner, designers’ doctors and students. Their age ranging from 19 yrs to 83 yrs of age. The data was collected via google form from may beginning to may end. Research Limitations: The study has some limitations to as the population is huge, and everyone’s viewpoint differs from one another. Besides huge infrastructural changes are required to create a nature positive environment which requires coordinated efforts of governmental organisations as well as people’s coordination.
