Therapeutic Potential of Winter Gardens in Medical and Rehabilitation Facilities (Horticultural Therapy)

This article develops a conceptual model of a winter garden as a holistic therapeutic environment based on interdisciplinary synthesis. It analyzes the theoretical foundations of the therapeutic impact of the natural environment, including biophilia, Attention Restoration Theory, and Stress Reduction Theory, as well as neuroscientific and neuroaesthetic evidence. The winter garden is considered as an object of interdisciplinary synthesis, integrating horticultural therapy, environmental psychology, landscape architecture, climatology, and phytodesign. Principles for designing a therapeutic winter garden are formulated, including functional zoning, a nosological approach, architectural and design parameters of the healing environment, and the integration of technologies such as biofeedback, augmented reality, virtual reality, and IoT sensors. A methodology for empirical evaluation using a randomized controlled trial on patients after coronary artery bypass grafting is proposed. The economic efficiency and barriers to implementation are discussed.
