Vehicle Development and Modern Technologies
Vehicle development is undergoing a fundamental transformation driven byelectrification, artificial intelligence, automation, connectivity, andsoftware-defined functions. This paper reviews the principal technologiesinfluencing modern vehicle design and explains their effects on performance, safety, energy efficiency, customer experience, and industrial organization.Electric powertrains introduce new requirements in battery management, thermal control, charging, and high-voltage safety. Automated-driving functionsdepend on sensors, computing platforms, reliable software, and extensivevalidation. Connected vehicles enable remote updates, navigation services, diagnostics, and data-based customer support, while also creating cybersecurityand privacy risks. These changes require automotive companies to integratemechanical, electrical, and software engineering throughout theproduct-development cycle. The paper concludes that successful vehicledevelopment will depend on systems engineering, rigorous testing, responsibledata governance, workforce reskilling, and continuous improvement acrossmanufacturers, suppliers, and service networks.
