Abstract

This article explores how biophilic design principles can be adapted to transform a winter garden from an aesthetic object into an instrumental space for cognitive restoration and stress reduction. The study develops a systematic model for designing a multi-sensory environment addressing all five senses: sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste. It analyzes the theoretical foundations of biophilia, the historical evolution of the winter garden, and the interdisciplinary synthesis of environmental psychology, biology, climatology, and neuroscience. A critical analysis of technological, biological, economic, and ethical limitations is provided, including the paradox of creating a "natural" environment in northern climates. The article defines a biophilic winter garden of the multi-sensory type as a complex bio-techno-social system integrated to create an immersive, restorative experience.
