TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY OF HEALTH CARE SERVICE DELIVERY: A CASE OF KAJIADO COUNTY

Technology integration in healthcare is important because it helps in improving the delivery of healthcare services through reducing delays, improving access to patients’ information, supporting better decision-making, and enabling better use of resources. This study assessed the impact of technology integration, specifically Electronic Health Records, in the delivery of healthcare services on operational efficiency in Kajiado County. Despite investment in digital health, healthcare facilities in Kajiado County still experience long patient waiting times, inefficient use of resources, fragmented information systems, and low satisfaction of patients. A descriptive research design was used in this study. Yamane’s formula was used in coming up with a sample size of 214, where respondents were selected using stratified random sampling. For the study, primary data was collected using a structured questionnaire. It was then analyzed using SPSS Version 23 through descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The findings showed that Electronic Health Records had positive and statistically significant effect (B = 0.351, β = 0.348, p = 0.001) on operational efficiency. The study concluded that the integration of digital health technologies played a significant role in improving operational efficiency of healthcare services in Kajiado County. The study recommends investment in digital infrastructure, staff training, technical support, and integration of Electronic Health Records across public healthcare facilities.

The study recommends investment in digital infrastructure, staff training, technical support, and integration of Electronic Health Records across public healthcare facilities.
