Transcriptomes of SS and WH strains of Spodoptera litura
This study presents transcriptome data for the SS and WH strains of Spodoptera litura, a globally distributed agricultural pest that causes severe damage to cotton, vegetables, and other crops. The SS strain typically refers to a susceptible strain, while WH may denote a Wuhan strain or a wild-type strain. RNA sequencing was performed to characterize gene expression profiles in these two strains, enabling a comparative analysis at the transcriptomic level. Such comparison can reveal differentially expressed genes and enriched pathways associated with insecticide resistance, development, reproduction, and environmental adaptation. The dataset includes raw sequencing reads, assembled transcripts, and functional annotation, providing a valuable resource for gene discovery, molecular marker development, and functional genomics studies. Ultimately, these transcriptomes contribute to a deeper understanding of strain-specific biology in S. litura and support the development of sustainable pest management strategies.
