Research on Investor Sentiment: A Bibliometric Analysis

The aim of this study is to demonstrate how the study of investor sentiment has progressed over time, uncovering both enduring and emerging phenomena. The study uses a combination of VOSviewer and Biblioshiny software to analyse 1,429 articles extracted from the Scopus database between 1991 and 2022. Using VOSviewer software, we conducted a performance analysis to identify the leading articles, authors, institutions and countries in the investor sentiment field. Furthermore, scientific mapping aids in identifying the significant themes and clusters of the study. The study demonstrates that research in investor sentiment has expanded rapidly over the past decade. Investor sentiment has been having an effect in an array of areas, with mispricing being the primary concern that investors started with. Researchers focused extensively on stock return volatility and news/social media, which led to these areas becoming the key research themes in the realm of investor sentiment. Additionally, some potential future research is suggested for the next generation of researchers after analyzing the major clusters and themes. JEL Codes: G40, G41, G00
