Perspective on Gummy Dietary Supplements Manufacturing and Testing

The demand for dietary supplements in a gummy format has increased rapidly over the past several years. Consumers appear to be seeking a convenient, enjoyable, and palatable alternative to traditional dosage forms, such as tablets, capsules, and soft gels. However, gummy dietary supplements present various challenges in formulations, manufacturing, and analytical testing. This Perspective provides an overview of gummy formulation, highlights challenges related to manufacturing and testing and briefly identifies areas of novel formulations. Addressing these challenges is critical for product quality and safety, as well as improving product consistency, stability, and consumer confidence in gummy dietary supplements.
