Global existence of axisymmetric solutions to 2D relativistic stiff fluid equations

We prove global-in-time existence of smooth axisymmetric solutions to the 2d relativistic Euler equations for stiff matter, which admits linearly degenerate characteristics. By exploiting the decoupling property between the vorticity and the sound wave in the domain containing the light cone, we establish global existence of smooth solutions using weighted energy estimates.

Abstract

We prove global-in-time existence of smooth axisymmetric solutions to the 2d relativistic Euler equations for stiff matter, which admits linearly degenerate characteristics. By exploiting the decoupling property between the vorticity and the sound wave in the domain containing the light cone, we establish global existence of smooth solutions using weighted energy estimates.
