What’s in the box? The establishment of Cheiracanthium furculatum Karsch, 1879 (Araneae, Cheiracanthiidae) in Europe

Three specimens of Cheiracanthium furculatum Karsch, 1879 were found in lemon crops in the Campo de Cartagena subdivision of Murcia, Spain. These constitute the first records of the species in Spain. This species has been found before in other European countries where it has been linked to the importation of fruits and vegetables coming from various countries in Africa. However, these are the first records that are not strictly linked to imports, raising the question of whether the species may have become naturalised in the region.
