FAIRsharing: Actionable knowledge for FAIR research data management

FAIRsharing (https://fairsharing.org/) is a curated, informative and educational resource on data and metadata standards, inter-related to databases and data policies, across all disciplines. It guides consumers to discover, select and use these resources with confidence, producers to make their resource more discoverable, more widely adopted and cited, and powers third party tools by providing trustworthy content to promote standards and databases. FAIR expectations are becoming increasingly embedded within UK and European funder, publisher, and organisational policies. A central challenge is not whether FAIR matters, but how to navigate and use an increasingly complex ecosystem of standards, databases, policies, and guidance to enable informed FAIR decision-making and practical implementation. This presentation introduces FAIRsharing, a widely endorsed service that supports a wide range of FAIR-enabling activities from data management planning to FAIR assistance, working with communities across disciplines and internationally. We describe how FAIRsharing integrates with services such as the data management and stewardship tools, engages and supports national and European research infrastructures through the Community Champion programme, and operationalises FAIR compliance in practice, working with a number of institutional repositories.First presented as part of the Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) Webinar Series.
