FlyBase: Development and metamorphosis into the Alliance

FlyBase (flybase.org) is an openly accessible, centralized resource for genetic, genomic and functional data about Drosophila melanogaster. This article describes recent updates to the curation and display of expression, functional and reagent data within FlyBase, including the incorporation of long-read RNA-seq data, the introduction of the 'Gene ToolKit' for identifying key genetic reagents, and new reports for protein complexes, metabolic pathways and combinations of split-GAL4 drivers. We also provide information on changes to our data archiving policy and guidance on how best to use AI methods to interrogate FlyBase. Finally, we give an update on the status of transitioning FlyBase into the Alliance of Genome Resources.
