NUMERICAL ANALYSIS OF THE THERMO-MAGNETO-ELASTIC BENDING OF A T-SHAPED COMPOSITE PLATE BY THE R-FUNCTION METHOD
This paper reports a numerical study, carried out by the R-function method (RFM), of the coupled thermo-magneto-elastic bending of a thin transversely isotropic composite plate whose mid-plane has a T-shaped (tee) cross-section. The T-shaped domain, which contains re-entrant corners, is represented as a single continuous analytic function ω(x, y) obtained through the R-disjunction of two elementary rectangles. The three-dimensional topology of the deflection field reveals pronounced displacement gradients at the flange-to-web junction. A harmonic magnetic excitation was also examined; after a short impulsive transient the system settles into a stable stationary regime. The results demonstrate that magnetic and thermal actions on an asymmetric T-profile are strongly non-additive and must be evaluated jointly at the design stage.
