Management of travelers to high altitude with self-reported sulfonamide allergy: experience from a travel clinic in Thailand

Highlight Managing high-altitude travelers with self-reported sulfonamide allergy is challenging. History of severe allergies are managed conservatively, while those with non-severe allergies to antimicrobial sulfonamides may receive acetazolamide. Uncertain histories remain problematic. We describe a pragmatic real-world approach, including acetazolamide provocative testing, to support clinical decision-making.
