Problems of providing assistance to women in menopause and ways to overcome them
The global demographic crisis — the steady aging of the global population due to declining birth rates and rising life expectancy — is primarily a challenge for healthcare professionals to address the underlying issues of declining physical well-being. According to Rosstat, the proportion of senior citizens of working age in the Russian Federation is steadily growing. Preventing and treating age-related diseases can significantly increase active life expectancy, prevent their severe consequences, and maintain social independence in adulthood. Hormone replacement therapy is the most effective medical tool for treating symptoms associated with estrogen deficiency and preventing diseases associated with old age. This article examines the challenges of providing care to Russian women during menopause. The search for relevant information was conducted in accordance with the stated topic using keywords indexing articles in search engines and on the platforms PubMed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, CyberLeninka, and eLibrary.Ru. The article selection criteria included relevance to the topic, a chronological framework (the last 15 years), a specific type of publication representing observational and quantitative studies, as well as expert opinions and surveys of specialized specialists. The results of these surveys analyze international and domestic experience in correcting estrogen-deficient conditions in women during menopause. The article presents the key provisions of the Expert Council Resolution «Problems and Solutions in the Care of Menopausal Women in Russia». It examines the psychological aspects of women’s perceptions of menopause and their interactions with doctors, as well as prospects for treating women who are unable or unwilling to take menopausal hormone therapy. Practical recommendations for physicians are proposed to improve the effectiveness of providing appropriate medical care to women. Initiatives to improve physician education regarding menopause and its implications for women’s overall health are presented. It is noted that educating the public and promoting more open discussions between patients and physicians can increase awareness and support appropriate attitudes toward menopause among women and healthcare providers.
