Fundamental Postulates

1. Geometry is a fundamental property of space. 2. Time is a property of matter: it is the rate at which matter attempts to change. 3. This rate is set by the concentration of matter: the more matter is gathered in one place, the slower time runs there. 4. The properties of space determine which material realisation is possible → probable → real within it. 5. There are no constants; there are only momentary values. 6. Even the properties of space are not constant; they change. 7. All measured data are accepted as true. 8. Every object influences every other object. Beyond a certain distance this influence becomes very small, but it never vanishes. 9. Voids expand space; black holes contract it. In voids time runs fast and alpha is cheap: matter is born there and does not remain. In black holes time runs slow and alpha is expensive: nothing new is born there, and whatever arrives remains. 10. Matter is a record of the change of space that gave rise to it. Consequently, every residual in a measurement is an unread property of space, not a new substance. 11. Gravitation is the relaxation of matter: matter moves toward the state in which it makes the fewest attempts to change — where its time runs slowest. Accumulation is the consequence; force is only a name for it. Notes on terms Alpha denotes the count of accepted changes (realisations) — the constructor's memory of what has actually occurred. The rate of time (Postulate 2) is the frequency of attempts at such changes. A cheap alpha means many realisations per unit of external ordering; an expensive alpha means few. Residual, accepted as true, and labels are as in Version 1: no measured value is discarded, thresholded, averaged, rounded or explained away as error; extreme values are labelled and kept; labels (companion, cluster, identity, void, black hole) are the author's and are never written into the constructor's memory as causes.
