Assessment of Heat Index Variability and Urban Heat Island Dynamics across Abeokuta and Shagamu, Southwestern Nigeria-Dataset
This dataset contains observational and derived data generated for the study of urban–rural heat stress in Abeokuta and Shagamu, southwestern Nigeria, during the 2020–2021 observation period. The dataset was developed to support analysis of spatial and temporal variations in air temperature, relative humidity, and heat index conditions across urban and rural environments. Field observations were obtained from 16 monitoring locations distributed across Abeokuta and Shagamu. Temperature and relative humidity were recorded at 10-minute intervals using data loggers installed in fabricated wooden meteorological shelters. The dataset includes site identification name, observed temperature and relative humidity and calculated National Weather Service (NWS) Heat Index values.
