Comprehensive Analysis of Grounding System in High Voltage Substation Using Soil Investigation Report

This study focuses on the design and analysis of grounding systems in high voltage substation. Thus, it aims to contribute to the development of safer and techno-economic design of grounding systems. In the study, the ground survey report data conducted at the transformer center site, which is a high voltage facility belonging to the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEIAS), and the soil specific resistance data measured with the Wenner and Schlumberger methods at the same site were obtained. These data were used in analytical calculations in accordance with the IEEE Std 80-2013 standard and in the Current Distribution Electromagnetic Field Grounding Soil Structure Analysis Software (CDEGS). In addition, ground impedance, step and touch voltages were measured at the installed substation using the Fall of Potential Method (FPM) specified in IEEE Std 80-2013 standard. These measured values were compared with the analytical calculations and CDEGS software analysis results and a comprehensive evaluation was made.
