We thank Fang et al1 for their positive evaluation of our recent review on secreted biomarkers in the transition from systemic sclerosis (SSc) to SSc-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) and their thought-provoking comments.2 In our systematic review, the aim was to identify and summarize existing secreted biomarkers that differ between SSc and SSc-ILD, and interrogate their function with regard to SSc-to-SSc-ILD progression.
