Eco-Friendly Synthesis of Ag NPs Using Polygoni ciliinerve Extract for Multifunctional Silk Finishing
This study developed a simple method for the environmentally friendly preparation of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using Polygonum ciliinerve extract, which was then applied to the functional finishing of silk fabrics. This extract functioned as an efficient bio-reducing agent, reducing silver ions into spherical Ag NPs with uniform size (approximately 50 nm). Following treatment with the prepared Ag NPs solution, silk fabrics demonstrated antibacterial inhibition rates that exceeded 99% against both Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This finding indicates that the fabricated solution exhibited excellent antimicrobial efficacy, a property that was maintained even after 20 standard washes. The ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) demonstrated a substantial enhancement, with UVA and UVB transmittance both reduced to below 5%. This study proposes a novel strategy for the development of highly effective, eco-friendly, multifunctional textiles.
