Chromosome-level genome sequences of the elephant ear sponge, Ianthella basta (Pallas, 1766), its Haplosyllis basticola worm cobiont, and associated microbial metagenome sequences
We present chromosome-level genome assemblies from a specimen of Ianthella basta (Porifera; Demospongiae; Verongiida; Ianthellidae) and its Haplosyllis basticola worm cobiont (Annelida; Polychaeta; Phyllodocida; Syllidae). The I. basta assembly has a total length of 209.27 megabases, with 98.55% scaffolded into 23 chromosomal pseudomolecules, and includes a 21.23-kilobase mitochondrial genome. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 21,073 protein-coding genes. The H. basticola primary assembly spans 2.63 gigabases in 34 scaffolds, including eight chromosomal pseudomolecules, and has a scaffold N50 of 308.67 megabases; its mitochondrial genome is 16.48 kilobases long. From the sponge metagenome data, we recovered four bins, of which two were high-quality metagenome-assembled genomes.
