Independent Identification and Initial Characterization of an Uncatalogued 12.44-Day Eclipsing Companion to TIC 88338227
This preliminary report documents the independent identification and initial characterization of a recurrenteclipsing/transiting companion candidate associated with TIC 88338227 (Gaia DR3 5072418228401379712). Thesignal emerged from a blind search of public TESS Sector 107 full-frame images. Alternating missing events reject theinitial 6.219 d alias, while TESS Sectors 105-107 support a working period of 12.437853 d and a primary eclipse depthof approximately 1.2%. SPOC difference images in Sectors 105 and 106 localize the variable source within 2.62 and3.31 arcsec of the target. Public searches on 2026 September 14 found no TOI, cTOI, public TEV result, TESSeclipsing-binary entry, Gaia eclipsing-binary classification, or Gaia non-single-star orbital solution for this TIC. GaiaDR3 nevertheless reports statistically significant radial-velocity variability across 17 transits, including a robust 8.44km s-1 span and RUWE=5.07. The system is therefore a high-priority previously uncatalogued eclipsing-companioncandidate whose physical class remains unresolved; present evidence motivates a massive substellar or very-low-massstellar interpretation more strongly than an ordinary giant planet. This report freezes the discovery provenance andquantitative evidence while reconnaissance spectroscopy is pursued.
