Remimazolam and emergence delirium

Remimazolam and emergence deliriumWang et al. report that remimazolam did not meet noninferiority to propofol for delirium after lung resection [1].We accept that conclusion and note the authors had already localised the excess to the emergence period. Our concern is narrower: the assessment-level results, which might distinguish sustained delirium from brief, drug-related fluctuation, cannot be interpreted as presented.Screening was performed every 10 min in the postanaesthesia care unit (PACU) and twice daily on postoperative days 1-3.Given the median PACU stays of 66 min and 61 min, this schedule could yield approximately 12 assessments per patient. The reported denominators of 1377 and 1440 correspond to only 6.1 and 6.3 assessments
