Endoscopic Rendezvous Procedure for Complete Esophageal Obstruction
Complete esophageal obstruction is a rare but burdensome condition which severely affects patient’s nutrition, quality of life and social interaction. Different approaches to the management of complete esophageal obstruction exist. Here we review the unique challenge posed to the endoscopist by, and preferred techniques for endoscopic management of, this condition, focusing on the endoscopic rendezvous procedure, where simultaneous proximal and distal endoscopic examination of the obstruction allows recanalization of the esophageal lumen.
