The genome sequence of Lapsana communis L., 1753 (Asterales: Asteraceae)

We present a genome assembly of Lapsana communis (common nipplewort; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Asterales; Asteraceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 1,043.71 megabases and 1,031.22 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (98.69%) is scaffolded into 7 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequence has a length of 312.71 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 151.77 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 27,755 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
