RED&Pro Project Handbook

This D7.1 Project Handbook is the internal reference document for the governance, coordination and quality management of Regenerative Ecologies of Design andProduction for European Heritage (RED&Pro). Prepared by IAAC as Coordinator, it is addressed to all consortium partners, the Advisory Board, and the Ethics Advisor. RED&Pro is a 36-month Horizon Europe project (June 2026 – May 2029) that establishes a European regenerative design culture through six bioregional RED-Labs, a Hybrid Design Academy, and an open-source Regenerative Design Repository. Delivering on this ambition depends on governance and working methods that are as coherent as the project's own design principles. First, this Handbook sets out the project's Conceptual and Methodological Foundations (Section 1) and how these translate into the project's three-phase and nine-cycle implementation structure. Second, it includes the Management Structures (Section 2) that govern RED&Pro: the Project Coordinator, the Work Package Leaders Group, the Advisory Board and Ethics Advisor, and the General Assembly, together with the Consortium Agreement that formalises their roles. Then, the Handbook includes a framework for the Quality Control and Code of Conduct (Section 3) and the Collaboration Infrastructure (Section 4) covering reporting, milestones, the deliverable lifecycle, peer review, risk management, and the structured feedback mechanisms through which the consortium monitors its own collaborative health. Finally, it elaborates on the Slow-Design-Driven Innovation and Participatory Action Research (Section 5) framework that underpins RED&Pro's evaluative logic, together with the project's explicit commitments to gender equity and inclusion, to non-human and more-than-human stakeholders, and to research ethics. And lastly, it elaborates on the Open Research, Open Access and Open Source (Section 6) principles that govern how the project's knowledge, data and infrastructure are shared, both within the consortium and with the wider public. This Project Handbook is a living document, issued in August 2026 (M3), following the project's Kick-off Meeting in Barcelona in June 2026, and is revisited at every Work Package Leaders Group meeting and formally updated where necessary following the M18 mid-term review.
