Experts urge caution on use of volunteer service value data
While the dollar value of volunteer service is a useful figure for nonprofits to know and keep track of—which is the reason why Independent Sector publishes nationwide and state‐level estimates each year—experts say that data is best kept in‐house instead of disclosed to the volunteers themselves, especially in any formal way.
