Promoting HIV-Testing Amongst Gay, Bisexual and Other Men who have Sex with Men in Amsterdam: Systematic Co-creation and Pilot Testing of a Novel Web-Based Intervention
Abstract Late HIV diagnosis remains prevalent in gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM) in Amsterdam and is associated with ongoing transmission. Drawing on proven but underused intervention development approaches, we co-created an innovative communication campaign with GBMSM and HIV prevention experts to promote HIV-testing amongst never or not recently tested GBMSM. The campaign addressed behavioral determinants of HIV testing through tailored messaging for key subgroups. A post-test-only pilot evaluation ( N = 86) showed significantly higher HIV testing intention among GBMSM exposed to the campaign. Findings support further evaluation of the intervention and exploration of its broader implementation.
