CLMS-Cities Newsletter Issue #3
Issue 3 highlights how CLMS-Cities combines Copernicus, super-resolution, and municipal datasets to support urban CO₂ monitoring in Vitoria-Gasteiz. It presents street-level traffic emission estimates, vegetation-related CO₂ uptake modelling, and data fusion that captures finer details of urban green spaces. The issue also explores the harmonisation of emission inventories across the project’s 12 cities, highlighting differences in reporting frequency, units, methods, and spatial boundaries. Vitoria-Gasteiz shares its perspective on how neighbourhood-scale information can support emissions reporting, mobility planning, and green infrastructure decisions. Finally, it presents recent project activities across Europe and announces the first CLMS-Cities Demonstration Workshop, where stakeholders can explore the modelling results and preliminary progress from Tier 2 cities. Their feedback will help guide further development towards comparable, city-relevant tools for climate action.
