A New Minimally Invasive Approach: Surgical Technique for Extracting Impacted Supernumerary Teeth via the Extraction Socket

Supernumerary teeth are common developmental anomalies in clinical dentistry. Early surgical removal is recommended for impacted supernumerary teeth. Conventional palatal or labial approaches are associated with greater trauma, more bone removal and more severe postoperative complications. This paper reports two cases of minimally invasive extraction of apical impacted supernumerary teeth via orthodontic extraction socket using piezosurgery. This approach avoids additional flap reflection and osteotomy, with the advantages of minimal trauma, rapid recovery and intact alveolar bone structure, providing a new strategy for minimally invasive treatment of impacted supernumerary teeth.
