Complete chloroplast genome sequence and phylogenetic analysis of Chrysosplenium insularis J. E. Jang, K. H. Lee & H. Y. Gil (Saxifragaceae), an endemic Korean species

We determined the complete chloroplast genome of Chrysosplenium insularis, an endemic species of the Republic of Korea. The genome was 152,689 bp with a typical quadripartite structure: a large single-copy region (83,587 bp), a small single-copy region (17,098 bp), and two inverted repeat regions (26,002 bp each). It contained 131 genes: 86 coding sequences, 37 tRNA genes, and eight rRNA genes. Phylogenetic analysis of 79 coding sequences showed that C. insularis is closely related to C. alternifolium and C. japonicum. This chloroplast genome provides a molecular basis for phylogenetic and evolutionary studies of Chrysosplenium and may contribute to conservation research.
