DD-Pair Production in the Parton Reggeization Approach with Account of Single and Double Parton Scattering

The paper presents the results of calculations of the cross sections for the production of $$DD$$ pairs at energies of $$\\sqrt s = 7$$ and 13 TeV within the parton reggeization approach, considering the contributions of both single and double parton scattering. To describe the non-perturbative effects of $$c$$ -quark hadronization into a $$D$$ meson, the fragmentation model with the Peterson fragmentation function is used. The parameter $${{\\sigma }_{{{\\text{eff}}}}} = 11.5_{{ - 0.5}}^{{ + 0.6}}$$ mb, which determines the contribution of the double parton scattering mechanism, is fixed by comparison with the available experimental data from the LHCb Collaboration for the cross sections of $$D$$ ‑meson production at $$\\sqrt s = 7$$ TeV.

Abstract

The paper presents the results of calculations of the cross sections for the production of $$DD$$ pairs at energies of $$\sqrt s = 7$$ and 13 TeV within the parton reggeization approach, considering the contributions of both single and double parton scattering. To describe the non-perturbative effects of $$c$$ -quark hadronization into a $$D$$ meson, the fragmentation model with the Peterson fragmentation function is used. The parameter $${{\sigma }_{{{\text{eff}}}}} = 11.5_{{ - 0.5}}^{{ + 0.6}}$$ mb, which determines the contribution of the double parton scattering mechanism, is fixed by comparison with the available experimental data from the LHCb Collaboration for the cross sections of $$D$$ ‑meson production at $$\sqrt s = 7$$ TeV.
