Early transmission risks of Ebola disease outbreak caused by Bundibugyo virus in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
An outbreak of Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) has been ongoing since April 2026, primarily in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. We estimated the initial reproduction number of BDBV at 1.85 (95% CrI: 1.09, 3.25), underscoring the urgent need for timely implementation of control measures to prevent widespread transmission.
