The genome sequence of Euphorbia maculata L., 1753 (Malpighiales: Euphorbiaceae)
We present a genome assembly of Euphorbia maculata (Spotted Spurge; Streptophyta; Magnoliopsida; Malpighiales; Euphorbiaceae). The assembly consists of two haplotypes with total lengths of 753.52 megabases and 724.52 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (97.8%) is scaffolded into 20 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial sequences have lengths of 630.18 and 78.73 kilobases and the plastid genome assembly has a length of 162.73 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 52,073 protein-coding genes. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
