First report of the complete mitochondrial genome of Microtendipes famiefeus Sasa, 1996 (Diptera: Chironomidae)

The complete mitochondrial genome of Microtendipes famiefeus was sequenced in this study. The circular mitogenome is 16,034 bp and comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region. The mitogenome exhibits a strong A + T bias (76.4%) and a conserved gene arrangement of Chironomidae. Sequencing depth analysis indicated high and uniform coverage across most regions, supporting assembly reliability. Phylogenetic reconstruction based on amino acid sequences robustly placed M. famiefeus within the Microtendipes (BS = 100), with M. tuberosus forming a basal clade to Microtendipes. This study enriches available mitogenome for Chironomidae and provides molecular data for future analyses.

Abstract

The complete mitochondrial genome of Microtendipes famiefeus was sequenced in this study. The circular mitogenome is 16,034 bp and comprises 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNAs, two rRNAs, and one control region. The mitogenome exhibits a strong A + T bias (76.4%) and a conserved gene arrangement of Chironomidae.
