The complete chloroplast genome sequence of Elatostema involucratum

Elatostema involucratum Franch. & Sav, a perennial herb in the genus Elatostema (family Urticaceae), has significant medicinal value. Here, we report the complete chloroplast genome of E. involucratum for the first time, assembled using high-throughput sequencing. The chloroplast genome is 150,481 bp in length, with an overall GC content of 36.35%, and exhibits the typical quadripartite structure, comprising a large single-copy (LSC) region of 84,035 bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 17,084 bp, and a pair of inverted repeat (IR) regions of 24,681 bp each. A total of 128 genes were annotated, including 85 protein-coding genes, 35 tRNA genes, and 8 rRNA genes, most of which are associated with photosynthesis and self-replication. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that E. involucratum is most closely related to E. stewardii, followed by E. suzukii. This study enriches the chloroplast genomic resources for the genus Elatostema, and provides a valuable foundation for further research on its genetic evolution and germplasm development.

Abstract

Phylogenetic analysis revealed that E. involucratum is most closely related to E. stewardii, followed by E. suzukii. This study enriches the chloroplast genomic resources for the genus Elatostema, and provides a valuable foundation for further research on its genetic evolution and germplasm development.
