A Study on the Attitude of Management Students Towards Foreign Trade in the Present Scenario with Special Reference to the Lucknow Region
International trade has emerged as a fundamental element of globalisation, cultivating interdependence among nations and significantly contributing to global economic advancement. The amalgamation of markets, technological progress and the alleviation of trade barriers have revolutionised the global trade framework, with trade accounting for over half of the world’s GDP—55.78% in 2017 and 52.10% in 2020. These statistics emphasise the essential role of trade in shaping economic structures and propelling development. To comprehend the significance of international trade from an academic standpoint, we conducted a primary survey aimed at management students at Integral University. This particular demographic was selected due to their prospective roles as future decision-makers within the business and trade domains. The survey sought to investigate their perceptions regarding foreign trade, concentrating on its advantages, challenges and significance within a globalised economic context. The results indicated that a majority of students perceive international trade as an indispensable mechanism for economic growth, promoting innovation and generating employment opportunities. They underscored the necessity for robust trade policies to harness global prospects while simultaneously tackling challenges such as trade imbalances and protectionist inclinations. Moreover, students recognised the influence of technology in optimising trade procedures and broadening market accessibility. This research underscores the cognisance and progressive mindset of management students concerning foreign trade. It reinforces the imperative of integrating global trade dynamics into academic programmes to equip future leaders for an increasingly interlinked world.
