PRISM — Physical Response-Integrated Seismic Methodology

PRISM — Physical Response-Integrated Seismic Methodology is an earthquake-resistant design methodology developed by Marcelo Moncayo Theurer at THEK Research Institute. The method integrates seismic hazard identification, real-record attenuation, site amplification, structural period estimation, building response, geographic effects, vulnerability, ductility reduction, seismic coefficient calculation, and base shear within a single transparent and traceable physical-mathematical framework. PRISM integrates the methodologies SERRA, RRAM, SPOT, SAC, BRC, PeRel, F₍G₎, SVF, and SDR into one coherent seismic design chain. Its central objective is to make every coefficient, parameter, and transformation physically interpretable, mathematically traceable, and independently auditable. Instead of treating design coefficients as isolated tabulated values, PRISM links each term to a defined phenomenon, methodology, equation, or engineering criterion. The methodology is intended for researchers, structural engineers, earthquake engineers, universities, graduate programs, research groups, consulting firms, public institutions, and organizations interested in seismic-resistant design, earthquake engineering, seismic hazard, structural dynamics, site effects, ductility, structural vulnerability, and transparent engineering methodologies. PRISM also provides a framework for comparing conventional seismic design approaches with a modular method in which seismic threat, ground-motion prediction, soil response, structural response, regional effects, and ductility reduction remain explicitly separated and traceable throughout the calculation process. Abstract

PRISM — Physical Response-Integrated Seismic Methodology is an earthquake-resistant design methodology developed by Marcelo Moncayo Theurer at THEK Research Institute. The method integrates seismic hazard identification, real-record attenuation, site amplification, structural period estimation, building response, geographic effects, vulnerability, ductility reduction, seismic coefficient calculation, and base shear within a single transparent and traceable physical-mathematical framework. PRISM integrates the methodologies SERRA, RRAM, SPOT, SAC, BRC, PeRel, F₍G₎, SVF, and SDR into one coherent seismic design chain. Its central objective is to make every coefficient, parameter, and transformation physically interpretable, mathematically traceable, and independently auditable. Instead of treating design coefficients as isolated tabulated values, PRISM links each term to a defined phenomenon, methodology, equation, or engineering criterion. The methodology is intended for researchers, structural engineers, earthquake engineers, universities, graduate programs, research groups, consulting firms, public institutions, and organizations interested in seismic-resistant design, earthquake engineering, seismic hazard, structural dynamics, site effects, ductility, structural vulnerability, and transparent engineering methodologies.
