Testability Coverage Rate (TCR): Practitioner Toolkit for UAT Release Readiness

Testability Coverage Rate (TCR) Practitioner Toolkit Testability Coverage Rate (TCR) is a release-readiness metric designed to measure the proportion of required behaviors that are actually testable at User Acceptance Testing (UAT) entry, independently of whether the resulting tests later pass or fail. Traditional UAT pass rates describe the outcomes of tests that were executed but can obscure required behaviors that could not be tested because of unavailable environments, missing test data, unresolved dependencies, inaccessible integrations, or other testability constraints. This practitioner toolkit provides materials for applying TCR to real-world release-readiness assessments. Included materials: TCR Practitioner Guide, scoring rubric, ten worked examples, and a TCR scoring spreadsheet. The toolkit is intended for QA leaders, UAT managers, release managers, test architects, program managers, and practitioners working in complex multi-system and regulated environments. TCR was introduced by Sreedhar Ailu in The Untestable Gap: Testability Coverage Rate as a Missing Release Readiness Metric in Multi-Vendor Regulated Systems, presented at IEEE QRS 2026.
