Phenomenological Analysis of an Exceptional Human Performance: World Record of 31-Minute Static Flotation in 25 cm Depth by a Pulmonary-Impaired Individual

This study documents and analyzes an unprecedented world record of static flotation achieved under extraordinary constraints. The subject, a 59-year-old male (born 1965) with 30% pulmonary impairment due to chemical warfare exposure, maintained continuous static flotation for 31 minutes in 25 cm water depth within a confined aquatic environment (220 × 70 × 30 cm). The subject is Grandmaster Dr. Mohammad Safdari, founder and world president of the World Mummy Swimming Confederation (established 2007). Through comprehensive phenomenological analysis, we examine the biomechanical, physiological, and psychological parameters enabling this exceptional performance.
