cOpitalism: From Public Support to Shared Capital

Copitalism is a policy proposal for obtaining equity in companies receiving public financial support, with the shares held by the state or citizens so that returns benefit the public. It presents three open design questions: state, direct citizen, or fund-based ownership; equal or income-dependent allocation; and cash distributions versus reductions in tax burdens. The proposal builds on existing work on public investment and shared capital ownership. It is a proposal for discussion, not a peer-reviewed empirical study. This record contains the English and Japanese versions of the same policy proposal.
