Good Agricultural Practices and Agricultural Marketing: A Province-Level Analysis of Production-Side Supply Capacity in Türkiye, 2025

This study compares the production-side supply capacity associated with Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) across Türkiye's 81 provinces and considers how this capacity may underpin agricultural marketing. The analysis uses the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's 2025 provincial statistics on the number of GAP producers, production area, and crop output. In this cross-sectional and exploratory design, the three indicators were normalized to a 0–1 scale, given equal weights, and combined into the Good Agricultural Practices-Based Production-Side Supply Capacity Index (GAP-PSSCI; 0–100). Descriptive statistics included medians and interquartile ranges; both Pearson and Spearman correlations were calculated, and sensitivity to skewness was examined with a logarithmically transformed alternative index. Scores varied markedly across provinces: Adana ranked first (82.74), followed by Şanlıurfa (53.50), Konya (24.84), Gaziantep (21.64), and Mersin (11.90).
