Analysis code: eMAC fraction during two maintenance regimens at a common BIS range
Statistical analysis code for a prospective, observational, single-center cohort study that compared the equivalent minimum alveolar concentration (eMAC) fraction displayed by the anesthesia workstation between two maintenance regimens (sevoflurane, propofol, and remifentanil versus sevoflurane and remifentanil) titrated to a common bispectral index (BIS) range of 40-60 in women undergoing gynecologic laparoscopy. The repository contains: R scripts for the simulation-based sample size calculation (simr), data preparation, the primary linear mixed-effects model (lme4), the prespecified sensitivity analyses, and the between-group tests for the secondary outcomes (intraoperative drug consumption and perioperative complications). Python scripts that produce Tables 1-4, Supplementary Tables S1-S3, and the descriptive values reported in the Results. A README that maps each reported result to the script that produces it and describes the expected input files. Version 2.0 replaces version 1.0 and matches the analyses reported in the current version of the manuscript. Figure code is not included. Data availability: the patient-level dataset and the pilot dataset used for the sample size calculation are not included. They are available from the corresponding author on reasonable request. The code runs once the files are placed as described in the README. Software: R 4.6.0 (dplyr 1.2.1, lme4 2.0.6, simr 1.0.10); Python 3.12.3 (numpy 1.26.4, pandas 2.2.2, scipy 1.15.1, statsmodels 0.14.5).
