Dynamic Clipping Synthesis of Rotaxanes via Siliconate-Forming Reaction from Bis-Catechol, Organotrimethoxysilanes, and Secondary Amines
Abstract This study presents the dynamic clipping synthesis of [2]rotaxanes composed of catechol siliconate ion–containing crown ethers and secondary ammonium ions. These interlocked structures are stabilized through ion–ion interactions and hydrogen bonding. The σ-symmetric rotaxane structure was elucidated via X-ray crystallography and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
