I31A. Vitological Metrology and the International System of Units: From E_VSA and η_VSA to Metrological Traceability, Dimensional Status, and the Criterion for a New Fundamental Quantity

Article I31 introduced Unified Vitological Reality as a spatial-chronal nonlinear measure of the viability of living and non-living systems and formulated two central constructs: E_VSA, a candidate functional unit of a complete viability-relevant spatial-chronal cycle; and η_VSA, a candidate measure of the efficiency of that cycle in preserving, restoring, or increasing the possibility of subsequent viable existence. A conceptual definition, however, is not yet a measurement. I31A translates the I31 architecture into a rigorous metrological form and establishes the central sequence: e_k → E_VSA → η_VSA → C_V → Φ_M,R Here, e_k is an Elementary Measurement Element; E_VSA is an operationally bounded complete viability-relevant cycle; η_VSA is the individual efficiency of that cycle; C_V is Viability Continuability; and Φ_M,R is Residual Metrological Information remaining after measurement uncertainty, the strongest justified established scientific explanations, Scientific Subtraction, and Functional Substitution have been taken into account. The central proposition of I31A is that Vitology does not need to introduce a new unit of the International System of Units or a new fundamental physical dimension in advance. The first requirement is reproducible SI-compatible metrology. Only if a Vitological measurement construct demonstrates reproducible measurement content that cannot be reconstructed from established physical quantities, justified dimension-one quantities, and the strongest functional equivalents does the question of metrological independence become scientifically justified. I31A therefore does not introduce a new fundamental unit. It defines the conditions under which the question of a new fundamental quantity could itself become the subject of rigorous empirical testing. Abstract

Keywords: Vitology; viability; metrology; International System of Units; SI; E_VSA; η_VSA; C_V; Φ_M,R; measurand; metrological traceability; measurement uncertainty; reproducibility; dimension; Scientific Subtraction; Functional Substitution; Viability Continuability.
