Clinical Spectrum, Host Risk Factors, and Predictors of Mortality in Shewanella algae Sepsis: A Systematic Review of Individual Patient Data.

Shewanella algae is an emerging halophilic Gram-negative marine pathogen increasingly recognized as a cause of severe opportunistic invasive disease and bacteremia in humans. Due to diagnostic challenges and historical misclassification, comprehensive data on clinical phenotypes, host vulnerability factors, and determinants of fatal outcomes remain fragmented into isolated case reports. This systematic review synthesizes individual patient data (IPD) from confirmed clinical cases of S. algae sepsis to delineate the clinical spectrum, organ dysfunction profiles, and independent predictors of in-hospital mortality.
