Research Embedded Practice (REP): A Low-Burden Approach to Research Embedded in Routine Practice

Research Embedded Practice (REP) is a methodological approach proposing that research should be embedded in routine practice rather than added to it. REP aims to generate clinically meaningful and methodologically transparent evidence while minimising the additional burden placed on routine services and the people they support. This Foundational Concept Paper, Version 1.0, establishes the originating REP concept and its core principles, introduces the REP Network and the REP study nomenclature, and proposes Open Dialogue as its first field of application. The document is circulated to invite collaborative development of the approach. The English Version 1.0 is the version of record. Authorised Italian, Spanish and German translations accompany the English version.
