ConstructoR: AI-Assisted Scientific Software for Psychological Construct Definition and Evaluation

Abstract The definition and evaluation of psychological constructs require the integration of theoretical, empirical, linguistic, and cultural evidence. A relevant methodological challenge is determining whether the definitions and theoretical models used to represent a construct are appropriate for the target population and sociocultural context in which they will be applied. Models developed in other contexts may not fully represent the meanings, dimensions, or manifestations that are relevant to a particular population. In addition, evidence searching, conceptual delimitation, and methodological decisions are often carried out through fragmented procedures, which can hinder the traceability of the decisions made. ConstructoR is AI-assisted scientific software currently under development, designed to support the systematic definition and evaluation of psychological constructs. Its purpose is to facilitate the examination of a construct's theoretical foundations and the appropriateness of its definitions and dimensional models for the population and context of interest. To this end, it integrates bibliographic searching, deduplication, evidence screening, conceptual comparison, progressive integration of scientific sources, and the application of explicit methodological rules within a traceable workflow. Artificial intelligence is used to support the organization, comparison, and synthesis of evidence, while substantive theoretical and methodological decisions remain the responsibility of the researcher. ConstructoR is being developed in R and R Shiny and seeks to preserve the relationships among sources, contextual evidence, applied rules, intermediate outputs, and researcher decisions. In this way, it aims to promote more systematic, transparent, and auditable processes for construct definition and evaluation. This preliminary preprint documents the scope and current development status of ConstructoR. It does not yet present evidence of empirical validation or comparative evaluation of the software. Future versions will describe its methodological specification, computational architecture, verification procedures, use cases, and empirical evaluation.
