Occupational Competence and Participation Among Women Exposed to Domestic Physical Violence Receiving Services at a Social Service Institution: An Exploratory Cross-Sectional Study

This exploratory cross-sectional study examined relationships between occupational competence, activity and role participation, life satisfaction, and depression severity in 15 women exposed to domestic physical violence who were receiving services at a public Social Service Center in Türkiye, where individuals and families are assessed and referred to appropriate social service models. Assessments included the Occupational Self-Assessment (OSA), Model of Human Occupation Screening Tool (MOHOST), Satisfaction with Life Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and Nottingham Health Profile (NHP). MOHOST total score was negatively correlated with NHP total scores. (rho = −0.525, p < 0.045). OSA occupational competence was negatively associated with both depression severity (rho = −0.523, p < 0.04) and NHP total scores (rho = −0.669, p < 0.006). No significant relationship was found between life satisfaction and the other variables.
